History of the Modern  Birthday Party
It is believed that Europe has started celebrating birthdays. If you turn the pages of history then you can trace these traditions in the cult of Mithras which was initiated in Persia and later spread through out Roman Empire by the then soldiers.

During the middle ages, people used to conceal gold coins, rings or thimbles inside their cakes as symbol. This symbolic item was associated with a certain prediction. If a person found a gold coin in a birthday cake then it was considered as symbol of wealth and if someone found a thimble then it was predicted as life time bachelorhood.

Birthday Parties

Celebrating makes me happy. I have always loved birthday. My mom made them a big deal for us growing up and now I try ot do the same for others. Celebrating kids is just a magical experience. Allowing them to be center stage and letting them know that we are all thrilled they are who they are, is just a joy.

Baby Showers

I love babies! Blessing new moms and they prepare to bring a new little one home is thrilling. There are so many emotions at baby showers; there is just something about a new beginning that brings with it pure elation and a little terror sometimes.
A shower gives those closest to the parents a chance to pour some love on the growing family and to show them, they have a village to help them raise their child.

Holidays

Enjoying special days with family and friends seems to serve as a landmark in time. I know I've said things like, "You remember last Christmas when..., right?" Recently, I was given a VHS tape of a Christmas that I spent with my grandparents, who are both gone now. As I watch the video with my children, I told them about the traditions and funny things that we did when we celebrated with that side of the family. It gave them a glimpse into our families past and a little insight as to why we do some of the thing that we do as I continue some of those traditions with my own family.
