We went to the Texas Tech Equestrian Center with our Girl Scout Troop to earn the new horsemanship badge. It was amazing all of the things that they do there - competitions and therapy for kids. I had a great time learning about the center and their horses. The best part was getting to ride one of the horses! - Addison | |

http://mars.nasa.gov/participate/send-your-name/insight/ So as is tradition in the Medley house, we have Green Eggs and Ham the morning before the first day of school. It is a bit of a funny thing, but it has become something that I look forward to doing. Remembering the Dr. Seuss story about Green Eggs and Ham, serves as a reminder as we start a new school year that new things just might be good things. I told the guys who run the baseball and softball league in our town that I was willing to help with whatever they needed, but I've never played sports, so running a clip board was really what I'd be most suited for. They called and asked me to coach girls softball anyway. My husband stepped in. The girls loved it. He loved it. Most of all our daughter loved it. After the season was over a local go-cart place offered to let the team have a party there. The girls and their dads played and laughed and giggled and chased. It was a great way to spend an afternoon. Today at the aquarium was fun. It certainty didn't take as long as we'd thought. Including lunch, we spent 2 hours there and then waited outside to board the boat for whale watching. There's proof that playing outdoors and getting dirty is actually good for kids. Children’s stress levels are significantly reduced within minutes of entering green spaces. Friendly bacteria found in soil helps produce serotonin, that all-important happiness-promoting hormone. Playing in dirt can help develop healthy immune function in kids that’ll keep them healthy and strong long past childhood. Regular outdoor time will help kids sleep more soundly at night. And it's just plain fun! Last Sunday we met at the new park with our Sunday School class to fly kites, enjoy watermelon, and friendship. With all the rain, we also found mud, mud puddle, nonetheless. Those are a rare thing in West Texas. So we played and slid and squealed. When it was over we hosed off in the yard and jumped in the warm shower. It was awesome! - Mom It's my birthday and I'm ten now. I love football and spending time with my friends. ..so today was amazing! - Preston Our now ten year old loves football. Loves to watch it, play it, talk about it. So that was his birthday theme this year. They played football! We had a party at a local fitness club and the kids got to play on the turf, the trampoline room, the ropes course and even got to play laser tag. |
AuthorsAfter watching the first episode of Nickelodean iCarly, where the main character decides to do a web show, my kids decided that they would like to do a "show". Choosing to share our experiences with others, sounded like a really fun idea. SuscribeConnectArchives
