A Family that Plays Together

In trying to limit the number of things that I have to pick up off of the floor, I suggested to my sister that we give each other experiences, do some memory making with our families for the holidays. She found a great deal for us all to go to Austin Parks and Pizza at a discounted rate over the Thanksgiving Holiday.

We played and played - from the oldest to the youngest, we definitely got our monies worth.

Guadalupe Mountains National Park

We were really just looking for a bathroom stop, but our scouts decided to become Junior Rangers at Guadalupe Mountains National Park! All we needed to do was pick up a workbook at the Headquarters Visitor Center, then choose from a variety of fun and educational activities. We learned about the park's history, fossils, native plants and animal inhabitants. There just happened to be a Ranger Program going on too! They got to learn about native animals like the rattlesnake. By participating in activities they can even earn a certificate a badge, and a patch!

Rain Forest Cafe

Walking around Downtown Disney, Nana made a b-line for Rain Forest Cafe as soon as she spotted it. We were seated immediately on the patio on the second floor. Waited on by a former pre-k teacher, who was wonderful to us kids - and that was awesome after hours in a car. She brought us some really cool frozen drinks - they boys got blue ones. The food was amazing too!

The best part was all of the super great stuff to look at all over the restaurant. The kids menu had a scavenger hunt so that you could make sure that you didn't miss seeing any of the animals - like gorillas and giant butterflies!

The Dallas Castle

Going to Medieval Times, Dallas Castle as a family was an amazing experience.

To prepare for the evening, we watched a few videos and talked a little about what might happen during the dinner and as the jousting and games began, but they we already excited. Their love for swords and shields and chivalry with the boys and all things princess for Addision, were enough to get them started.

The children dressed up in their knight and princess garb to make the most of their experience and lots of people really enjoyed seeing them get "in to the show." On the way out one thirty something man told his companions that he wanted a knight suit too!

Arrive early and make sure that you tell them what you are celebrating... they make announcements during the show and recognize everything from birthdays to families! Look at all of the neat things in the gift shop, get your photos taken... be aware that the dress up pics are $35.

The food was amazing and the sparks few - literally - when the knights started swinging their swords... the evening was action packed. We all loved every minute -

Prayer Changes Things

Yesterday I intended to send an email to let the teachers and staff in the school district where my children attend school know that they'd be prayed for, to encourage them for the new year, and to thank them for coming back to day #2, but I didn't. I just put it off and I didn't do it.

Today when I wrote the letter to send to them, I hesitated. I wasn't sure how it would be recieved, what people would think, or if it would just add more to their inbox than they cared to recieve. I certainly didn't want people to think that I was "godly" or something more than I am - I just prayed and wanted them to know I was thinking about them. Nothing More. Nothing big, right? I sent the emails at 10:20 and by noon I had 35 responses thanking, encouraging, and affirming the effectiveness of our prayers. As I read each one, my heart grew full and my eyes filled up with tears. I was overwhelmed and very humbled by the responses and they are still coming...

NAME, Welcome to the middle of the first week of school!

I wanted to share with you that you have been prayed for by name every day for a week now. Members of the community even came together on Sunday to walk the campuses and pray blessings over you for an amazing school year. There is something wonderful and a little terrible about the first day of school. We start the first day with some Green Eggs and Ham and talk about trying new things, because you just might like them. Then we all head out the door to try new things all day long!

New Cousins

We got to meet our new baby cousin this week and she is wonderful. It's sort of funny to like someone so much that we just met - she can't even talk or play or anything, but we love her already. That's sort or cool and wierd.

When we knew our aunt had a baby, we each picked one of our favorite things and made the baby a movie about all of the things that we wanted to show her. When we finally got to see her, we just kissed on her and held her - even the baby! Trenton wanted to hold her all by himself, but our mom wouldn't let him - he's just too little. But soon both of them will be big just like me!
So if you have a new baby cousin, just wait and it will get more fun
